First seen at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus in 2025, Sophocles’ Electra toured Greece and Cyprus before Dimitri Tarlow and Poreia Theatre reimagined it for the intimacy of the indoor stage. This is not simply the Epidaurus production brought inside: its world has been rebuilt for the close focus of Poreia Theatre.

Every month, the palace celebrates Agamemnon’s murder. Songs and live music move through a household that is already collapsing as Clytemnestra prepares another feast, Electra waits for justice and Orestes returns home.

Electra is caught between the demand for justice and the moral cost of violence. Is revenge a form of resistance, or does it simply continue the cycle of blood? Sophocles offers no easy answer; the consequences fall on those who survive.

“The production transforms the ritual weight of the tragedy into a contemporary, refined experience.”
